FoWP Volunteers – Wednesdays 10.00-12.30

Another Wednesday morning, another fabulous day in the park. Annemarie, Phil & Charlotte started pulling up the ivy under the trees in the copse by the playpark. The plan is to prepare the ground and put some spring bulbs in. If you are sorry you missed out on this fun job, don’t worry, there’s more left for next week! Andreu was cutting back some overgrown trees so the whole area will be refreshed. Linda & Mike completed the job of extending the chippings path through to the back of the habitats and round to the containers area. We were very happy to see a walker & dog enjoying the newly completed path. Gill planted some spring bulbs at the Cliveden Road entrance and Niall made progress cutting back the overgrown brambles.
It is a pleasure to work in the park so if you fancy joining our volunteer team, come along on a Weds morning, 10am by the sports changing room or find us in the park. Tools are provided, just wear sensible shoes & bring water if it is hot.

Continuing projects in the park

Volunteers have been working on the woodland area, creating paths using wood chippings.  We’ve also been reinforcing fences and securing the area.  Our zoo champions are creating wildlife areas and will be installing bat and bird boxes, as well as working on toad and hedgehog shelters.  Pond work is on-going.  Maintenance of the formal flowerbeds is always required.

A group meet every Wednesday from 10.00 and work on various projects in the park.  Additional volunteers always welcome.

Wednesday Volunteering Sessions 10.00-12.30

Happy New Year!  We’ll be back working in the park on Wednesday 12th January 2022 from 10.00 till about 12.30.

Come along and help – there are a variety of tasks that we undertake from weeding in the formal beds to more heavy duty work.  There will be something to suit any willing volunteer.  Please wear appropriate footwear/ clothing, as well as gardening gloves and bring any equipment you may need.
